This upgrade process takes advantage of the Chariot Backup/Restore feature so one can backup Chariot configuration from the old Chariot instance and restore this configuration on the new Chariot instance.

WARNING: This upgrade process WILL NOT transfer your Chariot license or SSL certificates. You will need to reapply your license and SSL certificates to Chariot after the upgrade.

  1. Backup your old (v2.1.0) Chariot configuration using the Backup/Restore feature under Configuration -> System -> Backup/Restore. Keep this backup in a safe, known location as you will need to restore it after the upgrade.

  2. Deactivate your Chariot license on the old Chariot instance, before you decommission it. You will need to reactivate the license on the new Chariot instance.

  3. Install the new version of the Chariot Server. Follow the Chariot installation instructions for your preferred OS.

    Linux installation instructions
    Windows installation instructions

READ THIS BEFORE INSTALLING NEW VERSION OF CHARIOT: If you're installing the new version of Chariot on the same server currently running the old version of Chariot, be sure to do the following:

    1. Do not overwrite the old version of Chariot when extracting the Chariot ZIP package, but instead create a new Chariot directory next to the old Chariot directory and extract the new Chariot package into that new directory. For example,

      # Windows Example
Old version of Chariot is installed in C:\Program Files\Chariot
New version of Chariot should be installed in C:\Program Files\Chariot.v2.1.1

      # Linux Example
Old version of Chariot is installed in /opt/chariot
New version of Chariot should be installed in /opt/chariot.v2.1.1

    2. Stop and uninstall the old version of Chariot before installing the new version.
  4. Restore your old Chariot configuration from the backup taken in Step 1.

  5. Re-upload and reactivate your existing Chariot license.

  6. Re-upload your SSL certificates.
